The effectiveness of anti-wrinkle creams depends in part on the active ingredient or ingredients. Listed are some of the common ingredients that may result in slight to modest imorovemnts in wrinkles. When  product has more than one ingredient and they compliment each other the cream is more effective. Which is what I call as combination therapy. The percentage of the ingredient will depend on its effectiveness. Their are many cosmeceuticals on the market today I hope this list will help you to understand them better.

Hyaluronic Acid ~ This is a natural component of the connective tissue which lubricates and cushions our joints, skin cells & even our eyes. As we age our body produces less effecting our skin and joints. Age, smoking unhealthy life style lead to drops in production over time. Applied typically as you see many creams and serums with Hyaluronic Acid it benefits the skin by absorbing 1,000 times its weight in water. Actively absorbing moisture from the air creating the extra moisture effect & decreasing water evaporation from the skins surface.

Ferulic Acid ~ This is a wonderful antioxidant found naturally in plant cell walls, leaves, seeds, apples, pinapples, brownrice, oats & peanuts. Ferulic acid is important to the preservation of cells exposed to both air and UV radiation. Helps to stabilize and enhance the effectiveness of topical ascorbic acid (Vit.C) & Vitamin E. Also stabilizing Vitamin C from oxidatation. The combination of Ferulic Acid, Vitamin C, E & Hyaluronic Acid increases protection from UV induced skin damage and increasing the ability of Vitamin C to increase collagen production.

Proxylane ~ A naturally derived ingredient from the beech wood plant (Eastern European).Stimulates the GAG synthesis - glycosaminoglans - the essential molecules responsible for holding water and modulating the extra cellular space in the derma epidermal junction (D.E.J) Therefore restoring water and nutrient content in the D.E.J. to increse elasticity and thickness.

Phytospingosine ~ A natural skin-identical active ingredient. In the family of active lipids(fats0. These active lipids come from the breakdown of Ceramides(a larger molecule of fat) thats naturally found in the human body and present in large amounts on the stratum cornuem the outer most layer of the epidermis. Needing only a small % for its effectiveness. A nutrally occuring anti-inflammatory agent to the skin & protects the skin's barrier to allevite the discomfort associated with dry aging skin and facilitates the skins natural barrier repair process.

Astaxanthin ~ An antioxidant from the sea! A very powerful one both dietary and as an ingredient in skin care creams. This really fights the signs of aging from the inside out! It has the ability to penetrate the skins outer surface to the skins lower substrate where it is able to function on a cellular level. Its unique molecular structure makes it a powerful antioxidant. More powerful anti-infammatory capacity than Vitamin E, four times the antioxidant capacity of lutein provides the protectin against UVA & UVB oxidative stress. Enhances the release of retinol (Vitamin A) from the liver when needed.

Matrixly 3000 ~ Contains two lipopeptides which lead to synthesis of new collagen stimulating collagen I, II, IV. Stronger than Vitamin C and works faster than Retinol without irritating skin. Wonderful and very effective in repairing skin.

Myoxinol ~ This natural effective agent is etracted from the hibiscus seed. Applied externally it helps to gently relax the facial muscles and has cell protecting antioxidants.

DMAE ~ This natural substance is produced in the brain and also found in salmon & sardines. Vital for our brain functions. When applied topiclly to the skin it helps to soften fine lines and wrinkles.

Hydroxy Acids ~ Alpha hysroxy acids, beta, hydroxy acids and poly hydroxy acids are all synthetic versions of acids derived from sugar-containing fruits. These are exfoliants that remove the upper layer of old, dead skin & stimulate the growth of new skin. This increases your skin photosensitivity so always wear a sunscreen.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid ~ Tis antioxidant is both water soluable and fat soluble giving it the ability to penetrate the cell membranes on all levels. Protecting the skin from free radicals and ads in reducing pore size and fine lines.

Kojic Acid ~ Kojic acid is derived from a fungus and is an effective lightening agent as well as inhibiting the production of melanin.

Retinol ~ This is a Vitamin A compound an antioxidant which  helps to neutralize free radicals. This is a much milder than Retin-A (tretinoin) available by prescribtion. Please avoid vitamina A derivatives if you are planing to be pregnant or are pregant as it may increase the risks of birth defects.

Leuphasyl (PentaPeptide) an aminio acid that containd five peptides. Modulates muscle contractons and beneficial to fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth area.

Blueberry Extract ~ Slows down the process of advnced glycatio preventing the formation of ridgid glycated collagen fibers. Stimulates procollagen I & III. Normalizes MMP1 a human gene to help protect non-glycated collagen from damage.

Acai Oil ~ This super fruit is native to Central & South America loaded with antioxidants. The pil is extracted via cold pressing of the berriers. Anti-inflammatory properties, protects skin from free radical, helps to restore skins elasticity. Rich in essentail fatty acids Omega-3,6&9. ich in vitamins B1,B2 & B3, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, mineral potassium, calcium, phosphorus. Rich in Phenols & anthocyanins a super fruit indeed!!!

Copper Peptides ~ Copper a trace mineral found in every cell. When used in products its combined with small protein fragments called peptides. Copper peptides stimulate production of collagen, ehance wound healing & the action of antioxidants.

Coenzyme Q10 ~ A nutrient which helps to regulate energy production in cells. Shown to help in the reduction of fine lines and protects agins sundamage.
